Here’s the scoop via Deadline:
Empire co-executive producer Malcolm Spellman and Hand of God creator Ben Watkins will write the TV version, a modern reimagining of the 1974 movie and the larger-than-life Foxy Brown character, originally played by Pam Grier in what is still recognized the ultimate portrayal of a strong and powerful African-American woman.
Taking on the Foxy role has been a passion for Good. She also will serve as a producer on the series, executive produced by her husband, producer Franklin via his Franklin Entertainment, Krantz through his Flame Ventures, showrunners Spellman and Watkins as well as Good’s managers at Untitled Entertainment, Jason Weinberg & Evan Hainey. Drew Comins of Flame will serve as co-executive producer.
Meagan gushed about the new project via Instagram writing, “When I say God answers prayers ??? .. #FaithWithoutWorksIsDead #FoxyBrown ??”
Kudos to Meagan and Devon. I look forward to seeing this project.
