Woman Gives Birth After Being Set On Fire

A Maryland woman was forced to give birth to her baby girl 7 weeks early after her boyfriend set her on fire in her apartment.

31-year-old Andrea Grinage was critically burned all over her body after her boyfriend poured flammable liquid on her and set her on fire.

She was rushed to the hospital where she gathered enough strength to delivery her baby girl.

First responders rushed her to a hospital where she successfully gave birth to a baby girl — the infant was born seven weeks premature, according to the news station.

“These are not the circumstances under which this baby was to be born,” Prince George’s County Police spokeswoman Jennifer Donelan told reporters during a Friday news conference.

The 31-year-old victim was also able to point authorities to a man she’d had a relationship with as her alleged attacker.

The new mother told authorities her boyfriend poured flammable liquid on her and then set her on fire inside her apartment. She warned them the man could be en route to Washington D.C. with the intention of hurting some of her relatives, according to the news station.

“She was very brave. We want her family to know how brave she was, suffering as badly as she was — critically burned, worried about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person,” Donelan said.

Police said the suspect turned himself into authorities in D.C. and is in custody. Charges are pending.

Grinage’s father, Arthur Grinage, said his daughter and her newborn are doing okay.

“She’s hanging in there,” he told NBC. “She’s doing fine. She’s beautiful.”

Andrea named her baby girl, Journey.

Sending up prayers to her and her precious baby girl.
