A man riding a skateboard was caught on surveillance video vandalizing a statue of George Floyd.

The statue was on display in Union Square in Manhattan, New York, over the weekend, along with statues of Breonna Taylor and John Lewis.

The perp is seen in the surveillance video around 10:15 a.m. EST on Sunday, riding a skateboard up to the George Floyd Statue and throwing gray paint on the statue’s face.

The act happened with bystanders present, but the perp is still on the loose.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.

Chris Carnabuci, the artist who made the beautiful sculptures, expressed his frustration with the vandalism on Sunday.

Vandalism of any sort is not an action that is productive or meaningful.

Actions like this remind us that we have a long way to go, and we will never stop fighting.

George Floyd’s brother Terrence Floyd also spoke on the vandalism on Sunday.

It’s incredibly disappointing how the statues were defaced in such a short amount of time, and it just goes to show you how far we still have to go to reach our goal of unity.

This latest incident marks the second act of vandalism on the George Floyd statue.

It was defaced with the logo of a white supremacist group this past summer on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, days after its unveiling.

If anyone has any information on the perp call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
