David Steven Bell, the North Carolina man, who was captured on video brutally punching an 11-year-old girl in the face outside of a mall, has been sentenced to attend a racial justice workshop.

The assault happened back in January outside of a mall in Asheville. When
We still don’t know what led up to the altercation, but Bell’s attorney, Andy Banzhoff, claims the group of girls
Banzhoff said, “His actions were in an effort to defend himself against the perceived threat from a large pack of youth who had trapped and surrounded him.”
Bell pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor assault on a child under 12 and one count of assault on a female.
He was sentenced to one 60-day suspended sentence and placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months.
Bell was sentenced to participate in a racial justice workshop, anger management counseling, community service, and to pay court costs.
The district attorney’s office said they dropped a third charge relating to an alleged assault on a female because they weren’t able to subpoena or contact the victim in the case.
