LSU apologizes for Flau'jae Johnson 911 lyrics

A month after being crowned national champions in women’s college basketball, LSU has issued an apology for offensive lyrics used by freshman star Flau’jae Johnson in a new rap song.

Flau’jae released her own version of Latto’s “Put It On Da Floor,” and in the song, she makes a reference to the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York.

The 19-year-old LSU Lady Tigers guard raps, “In this 911, blowing smoke just like them towers.”

Flau’jaue Johnson, who is signed to Roc Nation, was using a play on words while referencing both the Porshe 911 and the 9/11 terror attack.

The backlash was swift and loud on social media.

One person wrote, “Take a bow @LSUwbkb. A player on your team mocked those who died on 9/11 by comparing it to a Porsche. Disgusting. I know people who still struggle to sleep at night because of what they did in war after…”

See the original tweet as well as a clip from the video below.

Once LSU became aware of the song and the lyrics, the music video was expeditiously scrummed from YouTube and social media to the best of their ability.

But, as you can see from the tweet above nothing is ever totally erased from the internet.

LSU released a statement to FOX News:

We spoke with Flau’jae this evening, and while she never intended to offend or upset anyone with her lyrics, she expressed sincere remorse for any possibility of a misunderstanding and immediately took the video down. We will learn and grow from this experience together.

Aside from her love for basketball, Flau’jae has Hip Hop in her DNA.

She is the daughter of late Savannah, Georgia rapper, Camoflauge, who was tragically shot and killed in 2003, five months before her birth.

At the age of 13, Flau’jae Johnson appeared on “The Rap Game,” and she’s appeared on “America’s Got Talent” and scooped a golden buzzer.

She’s an incredibly talented young lady on and off of the court.
