Lizzo will appear on the new season of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.”

In the first look released by Netflix, the Grammy Award-winning singer recalls the police shooting deaths of 24-year-old Jamar Clark and 12-year-old Tamir Rice and how it impacted her view of America.

I remember there was a murder of a young black person – unarmed – in Minneapolis…down the street from my house.

His name was Jamar Clark.

I wrote the song called ‘My Skin,’ and I was very like, ‘We gotta make a change.’

People were camping out in front of the precinct. We were getting shot at by God knows who. It was scary. It was dark times.

And then, Tamir Rice, who was 12-years-old, who just playing in a park, got shot within seconds by a police officer – within seconds a young black 12-year-old boy and people politicized it.

How can you politicize the murder of a child?! And I was so numb that I lost all hope for any type of change in this country.

Lizzo went on to say she saw something different with the George Floyd protests that made her hopeful again.

This season, Dave also sits down with Kim Kardashian West, Robert Downey Jr., and Dave Chappelle for in-depth conversations, combining humor and curiosity.

All four episodes of the Netflix talk show series will be streaming on October 21, 2020.
