Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' Is The No. 1 Song In America

Grab your cowboy boots and 10-gallon hats because Lil Nas X’s hit single, “Old Town Road,” is now the no. 1 song in America!

According to Billboard, the song has jumped from No. 15 to No. 1 on the Billboard 100 chart.

Last week, Billboard robbed Lil Nas X of the no. 1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart after they removed the song because it wasn’t country enough.

Upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard’s country charts.

When determining genres, a few factors are examined, but first and foremost is musical composition. While ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.
