Lee Daniels Out As Director Of Richard Pryor Biopic

The highly anticipated Richard Pryor biopic has experienced another hiccup as Lee Daniels is out as director.

Richard Pryor: Was It Something I Said, with Mike Epps starring as the late legendary comedian, was set to begin shooting this month, but the “Empire” co-creator exited the project last week.

Via Page Six:

A source told us that despite rumors of creative differences with the Weinstein Co., Daniels’ departure is because he’s busy with “Star,” his new show for Fox.

A source told us, “The Richard Pryor project is ready to go, and they don’t want to wait anymore. Lee is consumed with his work for Fox. It was an amicable parting.”

Maybe Lee needed to decompress after settling that $10 million lawsuit with Sean Penn.
