Kim Kardashian is continuing her efforts to free inmates with a visit to San Quentin for a meeting with death row inmate Kevin Cooper.

Kevin, who is now 61-year-old, was convicted for the June 1983 murders of Douglas and Peggy Ryen, their 10-year-old daughter Jessica and 11-year-old neighbor Chris Hughes.

The Ryen’s 8-year-old son, Josh, was found with his throat slit but survived.

Josh told police that three white or Latino men murdered his parents, however, prosecutors claimed tests proved Kevin was in the victim’s home and that he stole their car.

They also claim Kevin’s blood and the blood of one of the victims was found near the crime scene.

Before the murders, Kevin Cooper, who has a rap sheet, had escaped prison and was hiding out at a home near the Ryen residence.

Kevin was convicted of the murders and immediately placed on death row.

In December 2018, former Governor Jerry Brown ordered retesting of the DNA on the shirt, towel, hatchet and sheath linked to the murders.

In February, California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered additional DNA testing.

Authorities are still waiting for the results.

Kim Kardashian believes Kevin Cooper is innocent and she’s doing what she can to get him exonerated.

She posted a photo of herself and Kevin with the caption:

I had an emotional meeting with Kevin Cooper yesterday at San Quentin’s death row.

I found him to be thoughtful and honest and I believe he is innocent of the crimes for which he was convicted.

I am hopeful that Kevin will be exonerated since DNA testing has now been ordered on Kevin’s case and I remain grateful to Governor Newsom for ending capital punishment in California.

I will keep you posted on Kevin’s case as more information becomes available.
