Kelly Price Speaks Out About Performing ‘As We Lay’ At Gospel Show
Kelly Price is speaking out to set the record straight about her performance of “As We Lay” on the gospel stage at the Indy Black Expo over the weekend.
According to the Grammy-nominated R&B singer, she was asked to do “her music,” not gospel, at the expo and she had a great performance.
But, she says she was “disheartened” when one of the organizers followed her off stage to read her in the name of Jesus for her “inappropriate” performance.
The awkward performance caused Kelly to become a trending topic on social media as folks clowned and raked her over the coals for singing the “ultimate sidechick anthem” at a gospel event.
Kelly, who was nearly in tears, took to Facebook to tell her side of the story in a series of videos.
She also said she wanted to expose “bigotry in the church.”
