Kehlani message on suicide and depression

Kehlani Opens Up About Her Suicide Attempt

The hardest moments in our lives can be a testimony to help others.

Less than two months after Kehlani‘s suicide attempt, the singer had a very transparent moment during a recent show where she admitted, “It wasn’t a first time thing…and that’s not okay.”

It wasn’t a first-time thing…and that’s not okay. It’s not okay for anyone. Not the people around you, not the people who love you, not the people who care about you, right?

She went on to address depression, severe anxiety, and other “disorders that people know nothing about.”

Kehlani also revealed she will be working as a suicide prevention advocate going forward.

So, I know everyone has access to the suicide prevention number. If not, I’m sure going to be working with them and advocating for that because it’s something that so many young people are dealing with. And so many young people slip under the rug to things like depression and severe anxiety and many disorders that people know nothing about.

So, if you have a friend and they’re scaring you a little…just love them and love them up and tell them that it’s good.

And from me to you…you are worth it, you are perfect, you need to be here every single day that you are meant to be here. Get up every day and know and tell yourself that.

And I love you all very much.
