Scenes featuring Jussie Smollett on the hit FOX drama, “Empire,” have reportedly been “drastically” cut amid the controversy surrounding his attack.
Smollett, who stars on the series as “Jamal Lyon,” was supposed to have nine scenes and a big musical performance in the second-to-last episode of Season 5, but five of the nine scenes, as well as the performance, have been cut.
As you can imagine, Jussie has cut back his work hours and the “Empire” writers have been scrambling to revise the script to focus on the ensemble cast.
Danny Strong, co-creator of “Empire” took to social media to shut down rumors of Jussie being completely written off of the show.
There is 0% truth that @JussieSmollett was going to be written off of Empire. This rumor is totally false. He is the third lead and one of the most beloved characters on the show. Writing him off the show has NEVER even been discussed.
