Jussie Smollett is scheduled to appear in court next month for his alleged staged attack in 2019, despite prosecutors initially dropping all the charges.

In January 2019, Jussie filed a police report stating that he had suffered a racist and homophobic attack near his Chicago residence.

The police investigated the attack as a hate crime, but they concluded that Jussie staged the attack with two brothers that he knew, Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo.

Jussie was indicted, and he pleaded not guilty.

In a surprising turn of events, prosecutors dropped all charges against him in March 2019 with the agreement that he would forfeit his $10,000 bail to the city.

But, what had happened was…a judge appointed special prosecutor Dan K. Webb to the case in August 2019.

After Webb’s investigation, he indicted Jussie on six counts, and accused him of making four separate false reports to the Chicago Police Department related to his false claims that he was a victim of a hate crime.

Jury selection is scheduled for November 29, and Jussie’s legal team have a hearing on October 15 to get the charges dismissed.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

On another note, the city of Chicago is suing Jussie Smollett to recoup costs from the police investigation into his attack claims.

  1. Won’t it be the same results if it’s the same charge? Didn’t they drop this? He will probably lose that civil suit for the time the cops wasted. Does he even work anymore? Did anyone buy his music? Where exactly has he been? I just don’t see people supporting his work really.
