Jussie Smollett took the stage at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Saturday night for his first performance since he was brutally attacked in Chicago.
Before this performance, Jussie’s siblings, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Jazz Smollett, Jake Smollett, Jocqui Smollett, and JoJo Smollett, took the stage and read a statement where JoJo thanked everyone for the outpouring of love and support.
He also stated how the false narratives and speculations about what really happened to Jussie has hurt him deeply.
JoJo admitted that he tried to talk Jussie out of doing the performance until he fully healed – physically and emotionally.
Then, after much debating…some arguing… and tears…my family and I realized tonight is an important part of Jussie’s healing.
See he’s been a fighter since he was a baby. He fought his attackers that night and he continues to fight.
Jussie was very emotional as he took the stage. But, he assured his supportive fans that he was “Okay.”
Later on, in the show, Jussie had to get a few things off of his chest to set the record straight on some erroneous reports regarding his attack.
1. His ribs were not cracked or broken
2. He was not hospitalized
3. Both of his doctors cleared him to perform
4. He fought his attackers back
Wishing Jussie well. ?
