Julian Conley, a suspect in the shooting death of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner, has surrendered to police.

Secoriea was shot and killed on July 4 while riding in the car with her mother and a friend. They pulled into a barricaded parking lot about a half-mile from the Wendys where Raybrook Brooks was killed by police.

Someone opened fired on their car killing Secoriea.

Over the weekend, police released a photo of 19-year-old Julian Conley carrying a gun and identified him as a person of interest in Secoriea’s killing.

After turning himself in, a felony murder warrant was issued and he was transported to Fulton County Jail. He also faces a charge of aggravated assault.

Conley’s attorney, Jackie Patterson, says his client was arrested “solely because he refused to cooperate” with authorities.

Once I identified him as the person in that picture and said we wouldn’t cooperate, then they decided — let’s show him, let’s issue a felony murder warrant.

Patterson said Conley saw four gunmen fire on the car Secoriea was in, but he didn’t fire his weapon and he couldn’t identify the shooters.

He added that Conley was armed that day because it is his constitutional right.

Julian Conley made his first court appearance on Thursday where a judge denied his bond.

This story is developing.
