In case you needed another reason not to trust the judicial system, Judge Timothy Walmsley is allowing the trial for the killing of Ahmaud Arbery to move forward despite clear “intentional discrimination” in the jury selection.

The three white men, Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William ‘Roddie’ Bryan, who hunted and killed Ahmaud, will stand trial in front of a panel consisting of 11 Whites and ONE Black juror.

Prosecutors for the state accusing defense attorneys of disproportionately striking qualified Black jurors and basing some of their strikes on race.

Judge Walmsley stated, “This court has found that there appears to be intentional discrimination.”

He then went on to validate the discriminatory jury:

One of the challenges that I think counsel recognized in this case is the racial overtones in the case.

This is sort of the continuation of a conversation that I think will continue for a long time, with respect to this case all the defense needs to do is provide that legitimate, nondiscriminatory, clear, reasonably specific and related reason.

Ahmaud Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, was “shocked” over the one Black juror as she left the courthouse.

“I mean, that was devastating,” she said.
