Jru Holiday Takes Leave Of Absence From NBA To Care For Pregnant Wife With Brain Tumor

Family over everything…

New Orleans Pelicans baller Jru Holiday announced he’s taking an indefinite leave of absence to care for his pregnant wife, Lauren, who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Jru told The Times-Picayune, “I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else.”

“Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child,” Jrue explained. “Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren’s symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy.”

Lauren, a two-time Olympic gold medalist for the U.S. women’s national soccer team, retired to start a family with her husband. But, in June, she began experiencing “painful headaches” and was diagnosed with a benign tumor.

The good news is it’s operable. Lauren is scheduled to undergo surgery six weeks after she gives birth to her and Jru’s first child in October.

Prayers up for a safe delivery and total healing for Lauren.
