Jennifer Lopez is going to pull double duty on NBC’s “World of Dance.”
The Latin superstar will serve as executive producer and a judge on the reality dance competition.
Lopez’s company Nuyorican Productions is producing “World of Dance” with Universal Television Alternative Studio.
“I identify with the struggles, passion, discipline, competition and exhilaration of dance. I am excited that with this show we can skyrocket a dancer’s career and help guide them to success,” said Lopez.
“This show centers on the need to celebrate and reward the art and athleticism of the dance community and there is no one more passionate about that then Jennifer,” said Meredith Ahr, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio. “Her role at the judges’ table takes our joint ambitions to the next level, and we can’t wait to get started.”
“World of Dance,” described as an unparalleled dance competition, will feature solo artists competing against duos and crews in all genres of dance, including hip hop, krumping, popping, locking, tap, ballet, break dancing, ballroom, clogging, stomping and more. The winner will receive a grand prize of $1 million. The show is made in partnership with preeminent global dance brand World of Dance.
NBC hasn’t announced a premiere date for the 10-episode series, but I’ll keep you posted as more scoop becomes available.
