JAY Z addresses the struggles of Tidal

JAY Z says Tidal is here for the long haul.

Less than a month after JAY Z rolled out his Tidal streaming service with his army of music industry titans, it’s been labeled a flop.

Many assumed with heavyweights like Beyonce, Usher, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Daft Punk, and Madonna pushing Tidal to their legions of fans Spotify, iTunes, and Beats Music would have had to pack their things and get out of cyber town before sundown. But, that isn’t the case.

The company sent their CEO Andy Chen into the pasture and replaced him with former Aspiro CEO Peter Tonstad. Then, they laid off 25 employees.

All of Tidal’s “exclusive” content is leaked into the internet streets within minutes. At one point, JAY Z and Jack White were personally calling subscribers on the phone. I’m not sure if it was to thank them or give them their B613 orders.

On Sunday, the Jiggaman took to his rarely used Twitter account to hold on online press conference where he addressed the alleged struggles of his latest endeavor.

JAY Z says Tidal is doing just fine and added that iTunes wasn’t built in a day and Spotify took nine years to pop off.

Stream of consciousness coming in 5, 4, 3, 2… #TidalFacts

Tidal is doing just fine. We have over 770,000 subs. We have been in business less than one month. #TidalFacts

The iTunes Store wasn’t built in a day. It took Spotify 9 years to be successful…

We are here for the long haul. Please give us a chance to grow & get better. #TidalFacts

There are many big companies that are spending millions on a smear campaign. We are not anti-anyone, we are pro-artist & fan. #TidalFacts

We made Tidal for fans. We have more than just music. We have video, exclusive concerts, tickets for events early, live sports!…

Tidal is where artists can give their fans more without the middlemen. #TidalFacts

Indie artists who want to work directly w/ us keep 100% of their music. ‘If you don’t want the CEOs all in the videos’ haa #tidalfacts

Tidal pays 75% royalty rate to ALL artists, writers and producers – not just the founding members on stage.

Rich getting richer? Equity values… YouTube $390 billion. Apple $760 billion. Spotify $8 billion. Tidal $60 million. #TidalFacts

My cousin just moved to Nigeria to discover new talent. Tidal is a global company.

We have Tidal X – it supports artists by giving them a platform to connect with their most loyal fans. Tidal is for all. #Tidalfacts

Our actions will speak louder than words. We made Tidal to bring people the best experiences…and to help artists give that to their fans over and over again.

We are human (even Daft Punk ha). We aren’t perfect – but we are determined. #TidalFacts

I’m happy for JAY Z and I wish him well with his new endeavor, but the tweet below sums up how I feel about Tidal.

The scoop on the street is JAY Z and Beyonce are planning to release their forthcoming joint album exclusively on Tidal. I’ll wait for the leak.
