Janice Dickinson Diagnosed With Breast Cancer
Janice Dickinson, the former supermodel, who has remained in headlines as one of Bill Cosby’s accusers, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 61-year-old spitfire revealed the news during a video interview with the Daily Mail.
Be clear – Janice does not want your sympathy.
I’m going to get through this. You betcha, kiddo. And I’ll be just fine. This is not a pity party. I’m Janice Dickinson. I’m going to stick around for a long long time.
Here’s the full scoop via Page Six:
“It’s hard for me to say this, but I have been diagnosed with breast cancer,” the 61-year-old supermodel revealed to the Daily Mail.
Dickinson visited her doctor on March 8 regarding a stomach issue. After she received a full medical examination, her doctor noticed a “pea size” lump on her right breast.
“The doctor noticed it immediately. She said, ‘this doesn’t feel right.’ And she said, ‘We have to be real comprehensive with this and have it checked out,’” Dickinson shared.
Three days after her initial visit, Dickinson went to the hospital for a mammogram. Her doctor phoned her with the results 24 hours later.
“My 22-year-old and I were out shopping when I got a call from Rocky [Gerner, 68, Dickinson’s fiancé] telling me the doctor was trying to get a hold of me, then the doctor called me and told me, yes it’s positive for cancer,” she said.
While Dickinson is leaning on her family for support, the former “America’s Next Top Model” judge is doing her best to stay positive during this difficult time.
“I had to find the courage I possess as a woman, that we all have as women and then I had to put my chin up and my shoulders back and take it moment by moment,” Dickinson explained.
Though doctors detected cancer in three of Dickinson’s lymph nodes, she will go under the knife once more in the coming days to remove a one-inch area of tissue around the lump in her breast.
“I know that my fiancé is a doctor of the highest caliber, I have four specialists, I’ve been prodded and poked on the inside and out and I can tell you I’m very, very lucky,” she noted.
I extend my thoughts and prayers to Janice as she fights to kick cancer’s butt.
