The NBA star was pulled over for an illegal lane change, but things took a turn for the worse when he reeked of ganja.
Cops say they also found a mason jar with weed inside the white Audi A3 he was driving at the time. He was charged with DUI marijuana and possession of weed (less than an ounce).
He was also cited for failure to maintain his lane.
During the arrest, Shumpert was handcuffed.
Cops say he told the officer he was a professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavs — and didn’t want to take a blood test at a nearby hospital because “people would recognize him and it would cause a scene.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers released the following statement regarding the arrest on Friday:
Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert was arrested by Fayette County (GA) Police outside Atlanta for suspicion of DUI following an August 10th traffic stop for a lane violation. The Cavaliers have discussed the situation with Iman and will monitor the progression of the pending case. A court date has not been set at this point, and neither Iman or the team will have any additional comments while the matter progresses through the legal process.
Shump gotta do better.
