Sometimes “I’m sorry” does make everything better…
Kanye West has settled the civil suit and will avoid a trial for assaulting celebrity photographer, Daniel Ramos in July 2013.
You may recall, Yeezy flipped out on Daniel outside of the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX airport by tackling him to the ground and trying to snatch his camera away from him.
Ramos filed a civil suit against the rapper claiming assault, battery, negligence and violation of his civil rights. A month later, Kanye was charged with attempted grand theft and misdemeanor battery.
According to the New York Daily News, Kanye West has settled his civil suit with Daniel Ramos by greasing his palms with an unspecified amount of money, apologizing, and granting his request for a photo op. (Even in the midst of a lawsuit…he was still thirsty for a pic with a Ye.)
Ramos’ attorney, Gloria Allred, praised her client for having the courage to stand up to Kanye by teaching him and other celebs that they are not above the law.
We cannot discuss the details of the settlement, except to say that one important aspect of it was an apology by Kanye West to our client.
We believe that this case sent an important message. Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.
According to Kanye, he acted out because his emotions were running high that day after learning his grandfather wasn’t going to make it.
