The Roots Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame

The Roots are being inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame.

The extraordinary band, formed by Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson in 1987, has gone on to win three Grammy awards, they were the first Hip Hop group to perform at the Lincoln Center, and they were named as one of Rolling Stones “Twenty Greatest Live Acts in the World.”

On Monday morning, the plaque honoring the legendary Hip Hop band, who also serves as the house band on “The Tonight Show,” was unveiled in front of the Kimmel Center on the Avenue of the Arts.

A gala is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday night to celebrate the honorees and Jimmy Fallon is slated to attend to formally induct The Roots into the Walk of Fame and present the band with their ceremonial plaque.

Questlove took to his Instagram page to share his excitement. He also offered a sneak peek of their plaque.
