What a time to be alive!
Golden Globe nominations were announced on Monday, December 12, and our fave ICC celebs, shows, and movies are pushing through like a gut in a smedium shirt!
I’m super excited to announce Issa Rae has scooped her very first Golden Globe nod for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her hit HBO series, “Insecure.”
Tracee Ellis Ross also scooped a nomination in the same category for “Black-ish.” Her co-star, Anthony Anderson, scooped a Best Actor (Comedy) nod and “Black-ish” received a Best TV Series nod!
After receiving the Critics’ Choice for Best Acting Ensemble, Moonlight scored 6 Golden Globe nods including Best Picture (Drama), Best Original Score, Best Screenplay, Best Director for Barry Jenkins, Mahershala Ali for Best Supporting Actor, and Naomie Harris for Best Supporting Actress!
Denzel Washington scooped a Best Actor (Drama) nod for his incredible performance in Fences. His co-star, Viola Davis, scored a Best Supporting Actress nomination.
Our girl, Octavia Spencer, received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Hidden Figures. The film also received a Best Original Score nomination. The soundtrack produced by Pharrell Williams is fantastic!
I squealed when NBC’s new hit series, “This Is Us,” scored a nomination for Best TV Series (Drama) and Chrissy Metz and Mandy Moore will face off for Best Supporting Actress. If you haven’t watched this show…you’re playing yourself!
Congrats to Donald Glover. After scooping the Critics’ Choice for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, he received a Golden Globes nod for Best Actor (Comedy) and “Atlanta” has been nominated for Best TV Series.
“The People vs. O.J. Simpson” kicked in the door with 5 nominations including Best TV Miniseries or Movie, Best Supporting Actor nods for both, Sterling K. Brown and John Travolta, a Best Actor nomination for Courtney B. Vance, and a Best Actress nod for Sarah Paulson.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Thandi Newton‘s nod for Best Supporting Actress for “Westworld” and Kerry Washington‘s nomination for Best Actress, Mini-Series or TV Movie for HBO’s “Confirmation.”
Congratulations to our ICC faves and all of the nominees! See the complete list of nominees.
The Golden Globes will air on January 8 on NBC with Jimmy Fallon as your host.
