Former NFL player Glenn Foster died Monday, days after he was arrested by police in Reform, Alabama.

Police in Pickens County, Alabama, tried to pull over the ex-New Orleans Saints defensive end after they clocked him for speeding at 90 mph.

Foster allegedly refused to stop and led them on an 8-mile chase, topping speeds of 100 mph.

Police dropped a spike strip, which flattened all four tires on Glenn’s vehicle, causing the car to slow down, jump a curb, and crash into a business.

After engaging in a “small, minor tussle,” Glenn Foster was arrested.

He was booked on counts of reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude police.

Police Chief Richard Black reached out to Glenn’s family about his erratic behavior.

Glenn’s father, Glenn Foster Sr., said his son was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 20.

Black made a deal with Glenn Sr. to send his son to a hospital in Birmingham for treatment upon his release on bail on Sunday.

When the family arrived on Sunday to post the $500 cash bail, Police Chief Richard Black said, “something happened.”

We went to bond him out and something happened at the jail and they wouldn’t let us get him. I really don’t know medically what was going on, but based on what I learned, it was not normal.

Apparently, Glenn had gotten into a fight with another detainee and two guards.

Once his family paid his bail on the traffic misdemeanors, Glenn was rebooked on three felony counts of assault and one of third-degree battery.

The jail was holding him without bail on those additional charges.

On Monday, Glenn Foster was transported to the hospital in a police cruiser – rather than an ambulance – to a hospital that was 30 minutes away.

Glenn was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.

He was 31.

Glenn’s death is currently under investigation.

An autopsy is pending and no cause of death is immediately available, According to the Pickens County Medical Examiner & Coroner’s Office.

Glenn Foster Sr. wants justice.

We want justice for our son. It’s unfair. It’s inhumane. It’s just not right.

Glenn’s mother, Sabrina Foster, said:

I can’t get my son back, but we want whoever is responsible to pay for this.

Watch the news report below.

My sincerest condolences to the Foster family and all who knew and loved Glenn.

I pray that the truth about his death is revealed and all those responsible are held accountable.
