Ginuwine passes out water tank stunt with Criss Angel

R&B star Ginuwine passed out after participating in a dangerous stunt with famed performer Criss Angel.

The incident took place in Las Vegas, earlier this week during rehearsals for Criss’ forthcoming CW special, “Magic With the Stars.”

During rehearsals, the 51-year-old “Pony” singer was attempting to hold his breath while submerged underwater in a glass cube.

In the show, Ginuwine, whose real name is Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, was trying to overcome his fear of being underwater as he couldn’t hold his breath for longer than 15 seconds before attempting the stunt.

The video shows the “Differences” singer underwater for a short time before he began giving the production team the distress signal to get him out of the cube.

It appears Ginuwine may have panicked in the water as he was seen gasping for air after being pulled out of the tank.

At some point, he passed out, paramedics were called, and Ginuwine was carried away unconscious.

A source told The Daily Mail, “It all happened so fast, it was like he got tapped out in a fight.”

The good news is the “Same Ol’ G” made a full recovery and was able to complete the stunt on the show.

“Although he failed in rehearsals, he still went ahead with the stunt on the show and everyone was in tears,” the source added.

Magic with the Stars” is slated to air on Saturday, October 22 on The CW.

The show features a host of celebrities who train with Criss to create spectacular magic performances.

The list of celebrities joining Ginuwine on the show includes Donny Osmond, Frankie Muniz, Brec Bassinger, Debbie Gibson, Matt Walsh, Flavor Flav, Randy Couture, Johnny Weir, and Tara Lipinski.

Criss Angel, Loni Love, and magician Lance Burton serve as judges on the show.

Comedian and actor Eddie Griffin will host the show from the Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Las Vegas.

While I applaud Ginuwine for fighting to overcome his fear of water… he has to tread lightly.

I don’t want him to be a meme and a hashtag.

UPDATE

Ginuwine took to social media to briefly address the incident and set the record straight.

First things first, the singer said all of this happened “a month ago.”

Secondly, he wants everyone to know “he’s good” and he is grateful for the outpouring of love and concern about his well-being.
