‘Get Out’ Submitted To Golden Globes As A Comedy
Get Out is a comedy?! Who knew?
The breakout horror flick of the year, which grossed over $253 million at the box office, will be competing at the Golden Globes as a Comedy.
Here’s the scoop via Entertainment Weekly:
EW has confirmed with Universal, the film’s distributor, that the Jordan Peele-directed horror-satire will compete as a comedy at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, where awards pundits had already pegged it a likely contender regardless of its placement. A source close to the Globes says Blumhouse, which produced the film, entered it for consideration as a comedy.
Fans of the film are confused and pissed.
#GetOut being nominated as a comedy is the literal definition of how white people and people of color see racism. For them, it's just a joke that POCs need to "get over." And for us, racism is like a cascade of horrors that never cease.

Just because @JordanPeele is known as a comedian/comedic actor, doesn't mean #GetOut should be considered a comedy. The two DO NOT correlate. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/tZn0qs9xDR

Jordan Peele made light of the banter by tweeting:
‘Get Out’ is a documentary.

Meanwhile…Lil Rel Howery, who starred in the film as the unlikely hero, thought categorizing Get Out as a comedy was “weird.”
But if I can be honest this is weird to me… Their is nothing funny about racism… Was it that unrealistic lol https://t.co/5xSXBmatfP

But I will say this Jordan Peele wrote a masterpiece that has horror, drama, suspense and comedy in it… And it all was good so hey maybe it just fits in a bunch of categories!!! This my first go around so hey lol… #GetOut
