Governor Brian Kemp is going full steam ahead with reopening Georgia in the middle of a pandemic in order to stimulate the economy.

Lenox Mall, Mall of Georgia, Phipps Plaza, Town Center at Cobb, and Sugarloaf Mills in Gwinnett County are slated to open their doors on Friday, May 1 after being closed since March 18.

According to the AJC, all of the Simon malls will open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Although the common area of the mall will be open, some stores will remain closed.

Greenbriar Mall in southwest Atlanta, Arbor Place in Douglasville, and Georgia Square Mall in Athens will also reopen on Friday with the same schedule as the Simon malls.

Perimeter Mall, Cumberland Mall, and North Point Mall, all owned by Brookfield Properties, are keeping their doors closed due to COVID-19.

Folks took to the streets of Twitter to react to the news of Lenox Mall reopening.
