Gabrielle Union has joined the cast of Emilio Estevez‘s film, The Public.
The film, written and directed by Estevez centers around a standoff with police and library officials when homeless and mentally ill library patrons stage a sit-in inside of a Cincinnati Public Library, turning it into an impromptu homeless shelter.
According to Variety, Gabrielle will play “an ambitious television news reporter who uses the event as a way to bolster ratings for the network as well her own personal profile.”
Alec Baldwin, Taylor Schilling, Jena Malone, Emilio Estevez and Che “Rhymefest” Smith round out the cast of the dramedy, which is set to begin principle photography mid-January in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Gabrielle Union is truly on her grind!
Almost Christmas is in theaters now, “Being Mary Jane” season 4 premieres in January, and she is starring in Sleepless with Jamie Foxx and TIP, which hits theaters on January 13, 2017.
