Former NBA star Anthony Mason has passed away after suffering from congestive heart failure. He was 48.

Anthony was diagnosed with congestive heart failure earlier this month.

On February 12, the former New York Knicks player suffered a massive heart attack while he was at the hospital undergoing tests and was rushed into surgery.

Earlier this week, one of his sons said he was “getting better” following multiple heart surgeries.

Mason won the NBA’s Sixth Man Award in 1994-95 as a member of the Knicks. He also played with the Charlotte HornetsMilwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat following his stint with the Knicks.

A Knicks spokesperson confirmed Anthony Mason‘s passing on Saturday morning.
