Via My Dayton Daily News:

A Fairborn police officer accused of making an inappropriate remark last month on social media regarding the suicide of a Black Lives Matter activist has been fired.

“After completion of an internal affairs investigation, the Fairborn Police Department has terminated the employment of Officer Lee Cyr effective immediately,” the department announced in a prepared statement.

Cyr was accused of posting a Facebook comment that read, “Love a happy ending,” referencing the suicide of MarShawn McCarrel on the front steps of the Ohio Statehouse in February.

Police said Cyr’s comment was a “violation of the department’s social media policy and does not conform to the professional standards and core values established by the organization.”

Cyr had been with the department since April 1994.
