Mo McRae joins “Empire” season 2 as Gabourey Sidibe’s love interest.

“Murder in the First” star Mo McRae has been cast in a three-episode arc on season 2 of “Empire” as Gabourey Sidibe‘s love interest.
Mo will play the role of J-Poppa, Lucious Lyon’s handsome and easy-going assistant, who is involved in an office romance with Gabourey’s character, Becky.
According to Variety, J-Poppa will also forge a strong connection with Andre Lyon, who has his eye on the throne.
Mo McRae previously worked with “Empire” co-creators, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, when he was cast in their 2013 film, The Butler.
In a post on his Instagram page, Mo shared his excitement about his new role.
