Now, all summer folks were singing Ella Mai‘s “Boo’d Up” like it was a hood negro spiritual, but folks flipped on the singer like hotcakes when Jacquees‘ unauthorized remix of her new single, “Trip,” was snatched down.
Not only did Jacquees remix the song (very well might I add)…homie made a whole music video for it too!
Clearly, he pushed the envelope too far and Ella Mai’s label snatched everything down like clothes on wire hangers at Mommy Dearest’s house.
Ella began trending on social media after the musical debacle.
Peep a few tweets below.
I forget that everyone isn’t in the industry so they don’t know things. Y’all know Ella Mai did not personally make Jacquees take down his “Trip” remix, right? She’s signed to a whole ass label. They do that with or without her permission.

? emoji twitter is mad because Ella Mai’s people removed Jacquees’ remix of Trip off SoundCloud and Youtube. He didn’t just post a remix, he shot a whole video lol you can’t treat someone else’s single like it’s yours

Ella Mai was happy with Jacquees’ remix until she saw it was becoming a threat. Perfect example of people wanting to see you good but not better than them??♂️

if ella mai really sued jacquees because of his remix she definitely lost a fan, that’s lame af because i bump both versions faithfully.

Everybody know that Jacquees is an artist who do covers all the time. That man wasn’t doing nothing but showing love to Ella mai and her song. For y’all to act like he deserve to get sued is crazy.

Dude made a whole video for his unofficial remix that used her melody and a majority of her lyrics before Ella Mai even had a chance to drop her own video. Of course the label got involved and it's not her fault. She even showed love to his initial IG clip of him singing it. https://t.co/CAtEOcOAMm

DJ Mustard stepped in to offer some clarity after Ella Mai began to get attacked by fans and called everything but a child of God by some stans.
He explained that Ella Mai has no control over how her label decided to handle the situation and she is not to blame for action taken against Jacquees.
