Eddie Murphy To Reprise 'Prince Akeem' Role In 'Coming To America' 2

Coming To America 2 is happening and Eddie Murphy has confirmed he will reprise his iconic role of “Prince Akeem.”

The comedic legend released the following statement to Entertainment Weekly:

After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward.

We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite [Is My Name], and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.

Craig Brewer also directed Hustle & Flow (you know it’s hard out here for a pimp….).

In the sequel, written by Kenya Barris (“Black-ish“), Prince Akeem returns to America from Zamunda after getting word that he has a long-lost son and heir to his throne.

There’s no word on an expected release date for the sequel. But, I will be sure to keep you updated.
