Not only did Dwyane Wade get hit with a $15,000 fine by the NBA for flipping the bird at some heckling fans in Charlotte, his sons put him on punishment for “disrespecting the family name.”
When the Miami Heat faced the Hornets last Wednesday, some fans decided to throw Wade off of his game by making unpleasant comments about his wife, Gabrielle Union. He says as the night went on…the comments got progressively worse.
By the end of the third quarter, D. Wade had had all he could take and he clapped by by sticking his middle finger up at the crowd.
You can talk about me all day. I really don’t care what you say about me because I know at the end of the day when I walk off that court most of those guys would see me in the back hallway and want to shake my hand. When it gets too personal about your family, that’s too far. But it’s not going to stop.
The incident resulted in Dwyane Wade being fined $15,000 by the NBA for gesturing at or interacting negatively with fans.
D. Wade said his actions also had consequences at home. His sons took away his phone and TV privileges for his actions.
In light of the incident in Charlotte, Dwyane is asking the league to do a better job of policing unruly fans in the arenas.
The NBA is an unbelievable league, and I’m one of the first ones to be doing NBA Cares and all these things in the community, but they need to protect us a little more. They need to do a better job of protecting players in the arena. It’s open game on us. We’re big boys, we can take it, but everyone has their breaking point.
I totally agree.
