Dream Hampton, the producer of “Surviving R. Kelly,” has issued an apology after drawing backlash for including Charlamagne Tha God in the docu-series.
Many viewers of the docu-series felt it was in very poor taste allow Charlamagne to give commentary on R. Kelly, when he too has been accused of sexual assault and problematic behaviors.
Peep a few tweets:
I don’t believe Dream Hampton. She knew how pproblematic Charlamagne was. She just chose to ignore it and feign like she doesn’t know how to do a basic google search

@dreamhampton how can you have Charlamagne the God in the docuseries which focuses on abused women when he is also accused of raping an underage girl? I know you heard about Jessica Reid’s story. Sigh ? ? #SurvivingRKelly

Serious question: Is @dreamhampton gonna answer why she left Charlamagne in the final cut?

Dream accepted full responsibility saying at the time he was interviewed for “Surviving R. Kelly” she had no knowledge of the past accusations against him.
She added that she was busy fighting to have R. Kelly’s brother, Bruce Kelly, removed from the docu-series…to no avail.

Charlamagne has not addressed the backlash. He was also absent from “The Breakfast Club” on the morning they discussed the docu-series.
I’m not sure if that was a coincidence or strategic.
What are your thoughts about including him in the docu-series?
