DOJ Takes Over Amy Joyner-Francis Case

It’s been two weeks since Amy Joyner-Francis was beaten to death in the bathroom of Howard High School of Technology and still no charges have been filed against those responsible for her death.

The Wilmington Police Department has turned over the case to the Department of Justice so that state prosecutors can review the evidence and determine which charges can be lodged.

On Thursday, Department of Justice spokesman Carle Kanefsky promised a prompt determination of charges saying, “Wilmington police turned over most of the outstanding evidence in the Howard High investigation to DOJ today. With this evidence in hand, DOJ will proceed to make a prompt charging determination in this case. We are grateful to Wilmington PD detectives for their diligent investigative work.”

Last week, Police Chief Bobby Cummings stated there was over 3,000 pages of data to review in addition to the explosion of social media posts that also needed to be investigated.

Cummings previously stated three girls would be charged for Amy’s death. Which charges are still to be determined.
