Chris Brown says American Music Awards AMAs canceled his performance

Dick Clark Productions is now addressing why Chris Brown’s American Music Awards performance was canceled.

Over the weekend, Breezy took to Instagram and shared a rehearsal video of his Michael Jackson tribute in honor of the 40th anniversary of the King of Pop’s iconic album, Thriller

In the comment section, Chris wrote, “WOULDVE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for reasons unknown. ??‍♂️”

Fans have been outraged over the fact that they were robbed of what was clearly going to be an absolutely epic performance.

By Monday, unconfirmed and hurtful reports began to circulate claiming Chris Brown’s performance was pulled because of the powers that be who felt uneasy about “having a woman abuser pay tribute to an alleged child molester.”

Folks really threw their hands up to the ceiling when Ciara slid into the streets of Instagram to let folks know that she was also going to be a part of Chris’ tribute to Michael Jackson.

Now, a spokesperson for Dick Clark Productions is saying that the tribute was only pulled due to an issue with creative differences and it was no fault of Chris Brown.

The statement read, “Live shows change all the time, it’s the nature of this business; unfortunately, this element of the AMAs didn’t come together as we couldn’t align on the performance, to no fault of Chris Brown.”

Even after pulling his performance, Chris won an award for Male R&B Artist.

Kelly Rowland accepted the award on Breezy behalf and shushed the crowd to make it very clear she stood with Chris.

The Destiny’s Child singer and actress said:

Chris Brown is not here tonight, so I’m accepting this award on his behalf.

Excuse me, chill out.

But I want to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music, and I want to tell him thank you for being an incredible performer. I’ll take this award, bring it to you. I love you.

Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.

In closing, Chris Brown took to his Instagram Story and posted a screenshot of an article that said the American Music Awards garnered 3.3 million viewers on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the video from the rehearsals of his Michael Jackson tribute had 11 million views.

I think it’s pretty clear the American Music Awards took an L on this one.
