Today, we’re celebrating what would have been Aaliyah‘s 36th birthday.
The outpouring of love, photos, and memories from those who loved the singer dearly is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
Damon Dash, who was dating Aaliyah before her untimely passing, said they “laughed together all day every day” in a touching message posted on his Instagram account.
I can’t begin to articulate our connection but we speak daily trust me her birthday represents true love from one soul to another #priceless happy birthday I know in the short time we were on this planet together we laughed more then most couples did in a lifetime probably a couple of lifetimes…that’s all we wanted to do was laugh nothing else mattered that was our main connection… We laughed together all day everyday.
After Aaliyah‘s passing in 2001, Dame revealed they were planning to get married.
We were definitely gonna be married. As soon as she had time, we were getting married — like after ‘The Matrix.’
She was the one — she was definitely the one for me. It wasn’t an official proposal, we had just talked about it, you know?
