Colin Kaepernick is out here moving and shaking like he’s on the 50-yard line!

The former NFL star-turned-activist and Jemele Hill have partnered with Disney and ESPN to create a documentary series about the past five years of Kap’s life.

The project is part of a production deal between Disney and Colin to create scripted and unscripted stories that explore race, social injustice, and the quest for equity.

This is really big considering the deal reaches across all of Disney’s platforms, including Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, The Undefeated, and its digital animation studio, Pixar.

Bob Iger, Disney’s executive chairman, said in a statement:

During this unprecedented time, The Walt Disney Company remains committed to creating diverse and inclusive content that resonates and matters. Colin’s experience gives him a unique perspective on the intersection of sports, culture and race, which will undoubtedly create compelling stories that will educate, enlighten and entertain, and we look forward to working with him on this important collaboration.

In a statement Colin Kaepernick shared:

I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives. I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing.

Jemele Hill shared her excitement about partnering with Colin on his documentary series:

I would say this is a dream come true, but I honestly never thought something like this was possible. I am truly honored to play a role in telling @kaepernick7’s story. Colin’s vision for this partnership with Disney/ESPN and @undefeatedespn is to amplify, elevate and empower black and brown voices. I wholeheartedly support such an important mission, and that’s far more important than my recent history at ESPN. This is an opportunity to do culture-shifting work.
