Claudia Jordan is suing Just Peachy wine for allegedly firing her for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

The model and talk show host filed a lawsuit against Biagio Cru and Estate Wines on Monday in the Southern District of New York claiming her public support of justice for Black people who have been victims of police brutality led to the termination of her contract in 2018.

Claudia entered into a partnership with the company in 2016, where she was to promote and market the Just Peachy brand in return, she was to receive three percent ownership of the brand as well as three percent of all revenue earned.

I actually attended her Atlanta launch for Just Peachy in 2017 to support Claudia’s newest endeavor.

Things were going well until 2018, when Biagio stopped paying Claudia and attempted to “terminate the contract due to her alleged support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement,” the lawsuit alleges.

Claudia Jordan claims the company said her social media posts were “too slanted” and they attempted to end the partnership because they “did not agree with political views on racial issues in 2018.”

Her attorney, Christopher Brown said in a statement:

Jordan contends that race placed a part in Biagio’s actions. We will see what a jury has to say about it. Attempting to terminate contracts in support of African-Americans against police brutality is not something I think the public will tolerate.

Biagio says the contract was terminated because it was an “at will” contract.

Their attorneys stated they will “vigorously defend against the false claims asserted” by Jordan and will take any legal actions “associated with false and defamatory statements published” by her.

In a post on her Instagram page, Claudia wrote:

Don’t ever let anyone tell you you don’t count or your story doesn’t matter. Because that is a lie my friends. Change happens when we lend our voices to the things in life that really matter. We all deserve to feel safe, to have equality and to simply be allowed to return home safely at the end of the day. That shouldn’t be too much to ask right? Be the light.
