Chris Brown says American Music Awards AMAs canceled his performance

Chris Brown is trending on social media after he revealed his performance at the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs) was canceled for “reasons unknown.”

Breezy shared a video from his rehearsal where the set began with a sexy performance of his hit single, “Under The Influence.”

Then, it transitioned to an incredible tribute to Michael Jackson in honor of the 40th anniversary of his iconic album, Thriller.

Watch the video from Chris Brown’s rehearsal below.

In the comment section of the post, Breezy wrote, “WOULDVE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for reasons unknown. ??‍♂️”

Dancer Taylor Terry, who was the lead dancer in the “Under the Influence” video, shared her great disappointment over the AMAs pulling the rug from under Chris.

I’m sick to my stomach!!! I’m so so so sorry this happened Chris!

You were so excited! The whole team on and off the floor was excited!!! Never left a rehearsal without having chills!

To go to a rehearsal and be inspired every day in more ways than one is crazy!!!!!

So grateful to have been apart of this man!!! This video does us no justice! Sending you love ??❤️

Taylor wasn’t the only one upset about the AMAs canceling Chris Brown’s performance.

One person tweeted, “To make Chris Brown believe he is performing at the AMAs and to take him out without a heads up after he’s put all that time & money into rehearsals is sad. The worst part is he was paying tribute to his IDOL, Michael Jackson & you guys crushed him like that. Smh.”

The official website for the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs) has listed the scheduled performers for the show on Sunday, which includes GloRilla, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Puth, Ari Lennox, and others, but no Chris Brown.

  • First-time nominee GloRilla will take the AMAs stage for the very first time in her career. The rapper’s performance will mark her first since the release of her new EP, “Anyways, Life’s Great…,” on Nov. 11.
  • As previously announced, the show will honor 17-time AMA winner Lionel Richie with the prestigious Icon Award. As part of this honor, two-time AMA winner Stevie Wonder and two-time AMA nominee Charlie Puth will take the stage to perform a medley of Richie’s hit songs. During the performance, singer/songwriter Ari Lennox will also join the pair for a special tribute to Richie’s monumental musical career.
  • AMA award-winner David Guetta and two-time nominee Bebe Rexha will make their U.S. television performance debut of global smash hit “I’m Good (Blue).” After its release, “I’m Good (Blue)” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in September.
  • One of this year’s New Artist of the Year nominees, Dove Cameron, will hit the AMAs stage for the very first time to perform “Boyfriend.” After the release of the single this year, Cameron made her way to No. 1 hit on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart.
  • A Favorite Female Latin Artist nominee this year, Anitta will take the AMAs stage to perform two of her recent smash hits, “Lobby” and “Envolver.” The global superstar from Brazil’s performance will mark her first-ever time bringing her talent to the AMAs stage.
  • Nominated for Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist at this year’s show, multiplatinum rapper Lil Baby will perform a medley of his smash hits “California Breeze” and “In a Minute,” the artist’s first time combining the two hits on an awards show stage. After the four-time AMA nominee released his album “It’s Only Me,” it catapulted to No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
  • Eight-time AMA nominee P!NK will take the stage for a second time at the 2022 AMAs for a moving performance dedicated to the inspirational life and career of 10-time AMA winner Olivia Newton-John. Newton-John died in August of this year after a long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer.

The 2022 American Music Awards will air this Sunday, November 20 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

  1. I’m not watching it now. He was my reason. Chris Brown was going to be the highlight of the show. Haters. Black people barely watch as it is. Looking forward to the Micheal Jackson tribute.
