Charles Johnson, a grieving widower, is suing the Los Angeles hospital that botched his wife’s C-section and allowed her to bleed out for 10 hours.

On April 12, 2016, Kira Johnson and her husband, Charles, arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to deliver their second child via a routine scheduled C-section.

Here is a video of Kira as she prepared to head back for her C-section:

Following her delivery, Kira didn’t look well and Charles alerted hospital staff, who couldn’t have cared less.

I just held her by her hand and said, ‘Please look, my wife isn’t doing well.’ This woman looked me directly in my eye and said, ‘Sir, your wife is not a priority right now.’

10 hours later that they finally took Kira back into surgery.

It wasn’t until 12.30 a.m. the next morning that they finally took the decision to take Kira back to surgery.

By then, it was too late. Her abdomen was filled with 3.5 liters of blood.

Kira Johnson died during surgery.

Charles, the son of TV Judge Glenda Hatchett, is fighting to prevent this from happening to another mother…and another family.

I started to do research for myself. I realized, oh my gosh, we are in the midst of a maternal mortality crisis that isn’t just shameful for American standards. It is shameful on a global scale.

If I can simply do something to ensure that I can send other mothers home with their precious babies, then it’s all worth it.

Watch the report below.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Black, American Indian, and Alaska Native (AI/AN) women are two to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.

About 700 women die annually in the U.S. of childbirth-related issues.
