Chaka Khan & Taka Boom Enter Rehab

Chaka Khan and her sister, Taka Boom, have checked into rehab together to get treatment for their addiction to the prescription drug, Fentanyl.

In a statement, the 63-year-old legendary singer apologized for missing her upcoming shows, but stressed the importance of getting healthy.

She also revealed it was Prince‘s untimely death that prompted her to seek help.

Unfortunately, I will miss concert appearances over the summer. However, it’s vital that I put my health and well-being first. I know that I am disappointing some of my fans, but I also know they would want me to recover and be well and healthy.

The tragic death of Prince has had us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives and priorities. We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers.

Chaka said she and Taka decided to seek treatment together to “support each other through the recovery.”

A statement released on Chaka Khan’s official Facebook page, says she is expected to begin performing again in August.

Chaka has struggled with a dependence on prescription pain medications and has voluntarily entered the program to get healthy and stay that way. As part of the ongoing outpatient treatment the doctors have urged her to resume recording mid-July and commence all performances beginning August 1st

Good for them!

I wish Chaka and Taka a speedy recovery.
