Over the weekend a video surfaced online that allegedly shows multiple men brutally attacking convicted child rapist Jelani Maraj inside of a Nassau County jail.
His mother, Carol Maraj, took to social media on Monday morning claiming the video is a hoax.
She posted a photo that read:
Hi guys, this is a big hoax. I just saw my son. Don’t let them waste your energy anymore. Be blessed.
She added, “Please don’t give this lie any more power.”

Jelani was convicted in November of repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter and is facing life in prison.
