Cardi B came under fire after a transphobic meme popped up on her verified Facebook page over the weekend.
The now-deleted meme read, “I hope nobody see this tranny leaving my house.”

The Grammy-nominated rapper took to Twitter to deny responsibility for the post saying it’s a former member of her team who runs the page and is the only person with access to the page.
It’s come to my attention that there have been offensive posts made on what used to be my Facebook page.
For the past year and a half, a FORMER team member has been the only one with access to the account.

Cardi’s explanation didn’t stop people from imploring her to take responsibility for her likeness and image while others wanted a flat-out apology.

I am a huge advocate for free speech but as long as its socially acceptable to make jokes about trans people, to make and share memes disparaging & demeaning trans folks, trans folks will continue to be murdered &denied civil rights. #TransIsBeautiful #transrightsarehumanrights

Re: Cardi’s post? I’m cisgender and I encourage other cis folks to listen to trans folks on this subject.

@iamcardib I love you. I want you to thrive. I implore you to take that FB post down and take some time away. You have shamed my community so many times and with your platform…you need to be educated on the harm and danger you continue to do to transgender women…

My question is why would someone who used to be on Cardi’s team still be interested in running her Facebook page and keeping it updated on a constant basis?
People weird.
