Welp…BET has canceled their scripted HBCU series, “The Quad” after 2 seasons.
Roland Martin, who made a guest appearance on the show, broke the news after receiving an email from the show’s co-creator and executive producer, Felicia Henderson.
According to her email, the show was axed because “the analytics didn’t support renewing a show with a budget of this size.”
Basically….the ratings sucked.
Roland wrote:
Got this tweet early this morning from @thequadbet creator/executive producer @followfeliciad Henderson that @BET has cancelled the HBCU show after its 2nd season recently completed.
Since A Different World, this was the first show on TV exclusively about HBCUs. I thoroughly enjoyed my cameo on the show this season and want to thank everyone in front of and behind the cameras on a job well done.
You brought storylines to bear that no other show would touch. Even though the GAMU ride is over, you all should be proud of the work you did.

I wasn’t a huge fan of “The Quad,” but I tuned in every week to see Anika Noni Rose put in werk.
The actress took to social media to react to the show’s cancellation:
It has been my great pleasure to step into and share Dr. Eva Fletcher with you. And my great joy to work with some amazing cast and crew. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Many thanks to @realrobhardy for making that first call, and for the faith you, @followfeliciad and @bet put in me. It’s not often you get to be someone who is from where you’re from and goes where you’ve been. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I leave this journey having harvested not just a new experience, but some friends I will hold close to me always.?? #Grateful
