Benjamin Crump, the attorney for the family of Breonna Taylor, spoke with “CBS This Morning” about the grand jury’s decision not to charge any of the officers in the killing of the 26-year-old woman.

Brett Hankinson, one of three officers involved in Breonna’s death, was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for the bullets that hit the neighboring apartments.

He was booked and released on $15,000 cash bond on Wednesday (September 22).

What I found most interesting was when Benjamin Crump detailed the conversation between Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Breonna’s family prior to the announcement of the grand jury decision.

Attorney Crump said:

He spoke to them for about 10 minutes before everything was released to the public. He did not go into the nuance.

They were not told that the wanton endangerment charges were for the white neighbor’s apartment and not for Breonna’s apartment.

He did not tell them that there were no charges for the bullets that went into Breonna’s body.

He did not tell them that the black neighbors that had bullets go into their apartment did not have any wanton endangerment charges.

So, it really underscores the fact that there seems to be two justice systems in America – one for white America and one for Black America.

What a grave miscarriage of justice.
