“Being Mary Jane” Renewed For Season 4

BET’s hit drama, “Being Mary Jane,” starring Gabrielle Union, has been renewed for a fourth season.

The announcement was made on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California, where Gabrielle made a surprise appearance.

Via Variety:

Season 4 will head into production this year in Atlanta, BET’s president of programming, Stephen Hill, shared at TCA.

For its third season this fall, in Nielsen’s “live plus-3” estimates, “Being Mary Jane” averaged 2.1 million viewers, a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and a 1.1 in adults 18-34. It ranked among the top five scripted cable series in all categories every week it aired.

Created by Mara Brock Akil, “Being Mary Jane” revolves around a successful broadcast journalist Mary Jane Paul (played by Union), and her professional and private life.

The show’s third season wrapped this past December.

I think it’s safe to say none of us are surprised by this renewal. “Being Mary Jane” is one of the strongest series on BET.

Congrats to the cast and crew on the renewal.
