Avengers Infinity War Review

Avengers: Infinity War kicked in the door of the box office with a $105.9 million opening day to become the third film in history to secure a $100 million bag in one day.

The Disney and Marvel film, which has already scooped $178.5 million overseas, is expected to clock $240 million over the weekend.

I’ve seen the film twice already and I absolutely loved it!

Avengers: Infinity War Review

This review is wrapped in an air-tight freezer bag, meaning that it’s SPOILER-FREE! Now that I’ve gotten that out the way…

Wassup, y’all! Six years ago, there was an idea called The Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a remarkable group of people to see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to and fight battles that we never could. Well, subsequent years and battles have led us to this – “Avengers: Infinity War”.

The highly – and I mean HIGHLY – anticipated film has landed in theaters with more force than Thor’s hammer. This has been a long time coming, as the villain Thanos has come to retrieve the remaining Infinity stones which will give him God-like powers, wiping out anything and everything. We first met Thanos back in the first “Avengers” movie at the end-credit scene. Since then, he’s been on our minds like a bonus check. It’s up to the Avengers to stop this mad Titan, and it’s up to the Russo brothers to deliver us nothing short of a masterpiece film. Does this happen? Well, keep your ears open, I hope that you’ll listen, ‘cause I’m about to take you on a spoiler-free mission!

Avengers Infinity War

The first thing that jumps out at you is the conviction Thanos has. He genuinely feels what he’s doing is for the betterment of the universe. He’s without a doubt, the best antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For me, Eric Killmonger previously held that title, but Thanos embodies the comic-book evil that many villains lack when translated onto the screen. Shout-out to Josh Brolin because he kills it, no pun intended. The genius move the Russo brothers make in this film would be the unlikely pairing of the different heroes.

Not only are the Avengers fighting Thanos, but so are The Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and The Black Panther along with his Wakandan warriors. The chemistry between all of them is perfect. Who ever thought we’d see Thor alongside Rocket the Raccoon? The interaction between the various team-ups mixes serious personalities with humorous personalities like sweet and sour Skittles! Some heroes get more screen time than others, but you must understand that this isn’t a stand-alone film, and when you have this many characters under one roof with a storyline that demands attention, there’s going to be character-neglect, but make no mistake, they all get their time to shine in one way or another.

Avengers Infinity War-1

The action in “Avengers: Infinity War” is epic. It’s everything you wanted and more. From beginning to end, it’s an absolute grand spectacle the likes of which you’ve never seen. Not only are you watching the best fight-scenes take place, but you can’t help but notice how incredible the CGI is. Use your favorite cliché and apply it to the special effects. Mine is GOT-TOE-MIGHTY! If you had to construct a sentence using only adjectives to describe how monumental the action is in this movie, it would probably go something like this, “Colossal dope exciting breathtaking tiiiiight, illmatic suspenseful painstaking heart-wrenching enigmatic.” Word.

Compelling dialogue keeps “Infinity War” going strong after the action breaks. The storyline is more than a bad guy gathering rocks to destroy all humanity. It will play with your emotions like Smokey playing with Big Worm’s money. If I had to pick a flaw in this film, it would be the comedy. Sometimes it overstays its welcome, but that’s a small price to pay when you’re trying to save the universe, right?

Avengers: Infinity War” is the On the Run II Tour of movies, it’s the “Stranger Things” of movies, it’s the New Edition of movies. Therefore, I’m co-signing “Avengers: Infinity War” to the fullest! There are some big surprises, and you all know by now to stay until last credit rolls. Also, you may want to take extra napkins, not just for your popcorn…I’m just sayin’. See this in IMAX if you can. World Wars 1 and 2 were historic; the Infinity War is on a whole other level…

Have you seen the film?
